A Journey of Hope in Sarapiquí
The road to Sarapiquí, a lush yet challenging region of Costa Rica, is one Ascension Ministries has traveled with purpose and prayer. Here, among migrant workers and indigenous families, we’ve witnessed the weight of economic hardship and limited access to education. But we’ve also seen the light of hope breaking through. Partnering with Iglesia Pueblo de Cristo and ECSFin, we’ve launched initiatives to bring not just aid but transformation—offering healthcare, literacy programs, and the life-changing message of the Gospel to a people longing for both.
Our work in Sarapiquí began with listening. Through careful study and heartfelt conversations with the community, we uncovered the daily struggles of families working on agricultural plantations and the dreams of children eager to learn. This led us to tailor our outreach—training local leaders to share Christ’s love, providing vocational skills to parents, and creating spaces where the Cabécar people can worship and grow. Each step is a testament to the Holy Spirit’s guidance, turning isolated villages into communities of faith and resilience.
The journey isn’t over, and the need remains great. Yet, every baptism, every new reader, every smile from a child in our mentorship programs reminds us why we’re here. Ascension Ministries is committed to walking this path with Sarapiquí, trusting that God’s power will continue to reclaim the lost and build a future rooted in His grace.
