In recent years, amid the challenges of the global pandemic, Christian mission work in Sarapiquí—a Costa Rican province home to many migrant workers facing economic hardship and low literacy rates—has centered on delivering essential support, including education, healthcare, and vocational training.
Ascension Ministries, alongside Iglesia Pueblo de Cristo, conducted an in-depth study of Sarapiquí to gain a deeper understanding of its socioeconomic, cultural, and geopolitical landscape. Through thorough research and active community engagement, our team uncovered pressing needs: economic instability, limited educational opportunities, and the struggles of migrant workers seeking jobs on agricultural plantations. These insights illuminated the region’s challenges, enabling us to design outreach programs that address both the practical and spiritual needs of its people.
Guided by these findings, Ascension Ministries introduced faith-based initiatives rooted in biblical principles to renew and strengthen the Sarapiquí community. These efforts include literacy and vocational training to equip individuals with skills for lasting economic stability, as well as healthcare support to uplift struggling families. By weaving faith into these practical solutions, Ascension Ministries and our partners seek to foster a community grounded in hope, resilience, and self-reliance.
Beyond meeting material needs, our outreach prioritizes spiritual growth and meaningful fellowship. Tailored programs for children and teens focus on mentorship, discipleship, and leadership development, preparing the next generation with both biblical wisdom and essential life skills. Together with Iglesia Pueblo de Cristo and Ascension Ministries is committed to bringing sustainable transformation to Sarapiquí, blending compassionate service with the life-changing power of the Gospel to inspire individuals and families toward a brighter, faith-filled future.
